Weekend At Hatta Fort Hotel

Part of Sat's request while he was here was to kick back and relax and I also fancied getting out of the city for a bit so after a morning shopping at The Mall of the Emirates (yes including Zara!) I drove for about an hour and a half out of the city, through a desert and on to Hatta - a town surrounded by the Hajar mountains. We checked into Hatta Fort Hotel, where all the rooms were there own litle bungalow each with a balcony, at about 3.30pm. We sat by the pool until the sunset behind the mountains and then onto the bar for happy hour. We had the 80's James Bondesque style bar practically to ourselves (there was just one sozzled Arab in the corner) and had a brilliant time just chatting and really catching catching up before a good arabic-for-western-taste meal. The next day we spent the whole time just by the pool. It was 43 degrees so we stayed in the shade most of the time with lots of cool fruit cocktails.
